Spring is here and I am already dreaming of warm sand and the smell of suntan lotion. I had to pull out my Easter decorations today because I'm trying to push mother nature faster! Although this is Klamath and I think it is suppose to snow tonight....sigh.

Sweet Tomatoes
We discovered a new restaurant in Portland this week that we really like. I know most of you are not fans of buffets, but this one is awesome. We like buffets because the kids eat instantly, no fighting, and they get stuff I know they will eat. Anyway this restaurant doesn't have nasty greasy food it is all pasta and salad and really good soup. You leave without that "brick in your belly" feeling. I highly recommend it!

Becerra Lovin'
We had so much fun at the Becerra cousins this week! Dress-up's were a fav! I always leave Kara's house wanting to eat better and be a healthier person. On this particular visit we made a fun recipe from the Deceptively Delicious cookbook, yummy muffins with hidden carrot and applesauce. I also learned about flaxseed!!! We put it in everything while we were up there, even Carmel popcorn. I am now a huge flaxseed fan!! Thank you Kara.

Happy St. Patty's Day!
This is the letter that came home with Ellie on Thursday and I was so excited. Her first project!! She was asked to build a trap for a Leprechaun. How fun! So I had her think about how she wanted to do it. We were suppose to use household items and Ellie liked the idea of using an egg carton that she could close on the leprechaun when he was lured inside. We tried all weekend to think of something, knowing that every other trap would have gold and rainbows, and this is the finished project!!
Run for the music
Last Saturday Ellie was in a race that earned money for KU's band. A LOT of kids ran in the children's race and 2 boys we know got in the top 4! It was really great fun for our whole family, Ellie is a lot like her mama and is not super athletic, but Connor ran almost the whole mile with a smile!! I think he will be doing it again next year. Again, I forgot my camera- (sigh), but my friend Mary took some for me so more pic's of the race will probably surface soon.
big decisions
For the last few days I have been struggling over a hard decision! The other day I got a call from the principle at Mills saying that he got a phone call from Cece, our superintendent, and they wondered if I would petition for the spot on the school board!! I have to say I was taken back and very flattered that my name would even come up for such a thing. As soon as I was asked, a list of many other women that I know who would be so much better at this than me ran through my mind. I think it would be so great to have a teachers wife on the board, but I truly do not know enough about it all, and not to mention the time it would take!
So at the end of it all, I had to decline knowing that the timing just isn't right for my family, but hope to maybe someday be in this position again!!

Circus!!
Thanks to Joan, we scored a free family pass to the Circus last night. I have to say that I wasn't expecting much, being a Klamath Falls circus but I was VERY impressed at how awesome it was! I hadn't been to a circus since I was little and it was a first for my kids! They loved every minute. I could have kicked myself for forgetting my camera!!

Scary mommy moment!
So I thought for sure we had been so lucky this winter and avoided getting sick or hurt, but on Sunday night Ellie started complaining about her ear hurting her. She has never had an earache before so to her this was the end of the world. She was up all night and in the morning I took her into the doctors office and sure enough she had a "raging ear infection". As we were leaving, poor girl threw up all over the floor at the office.
So after giving her a dose of antibiotics and Motrin, she slept pretty much all day. When she woke up she had a little bit of a bloody nose and was in a lot of pain still. An hour later she came to me saying she couldn't hear out of her ear very well and when I looked at her ear I saw BLOOD!! AHHHHH!
So scary! I tried to call her doctor, but they were closed, then I called a 24 hour nurse hot line and she told me to take her to the hospital. Then I called the on call # for her doctor and that nurse said to take her in too. So I rushed her to Basin Immediate and they think she has 2 ear infections, and possibly a canal infection. There might be a hole in her eardrum or canal and that is where the blood is coming from.
Anyway all is well now and she is on the road to recovery! I on the other hand am scarred for life. ;(

Had to write this one down...
When I think of my sweet 5 year old daughter, an image of a cute, chubby cheeked, innocent little baby comes to my mind. Yet, this morning while getting her ready for school she installed the fear of how fast she is growing up into me with just one sentence...
"Mommy, when can I wear a bra?"
After picking my jaw up off of the floor I thought to myself, I don't even know if she has ever said the word bra let alone knew what one was and wanted to wear it to school. And to make things worse, she tells me that one of her friends wears a bra to school. AAHHHH!! I am SO not ready for all of this!!

Silly Sofia
My niece Sofia is so funny, my sister in law Kara has this on her blog and I thought it was so cute I just had to share with everyone!
How to Make a Buttermilk Sandwich
Sofia loves having me write down recipes and grocery lists. Today she explained to me how to make a Buttermilk Sandwich. Somebody test it out and let me know how it turns out.
-Corn
-Soup
-Bananas
-Pickles
-Olives
(Heat these up)
Next add-
-Leaves
-Beans
-Cereal
-Angel Cookie
(Toast everything)
Next... this is the important part of what you do with the ingredients
"Paint it."
"Hug it"
"Squish it into a squishy Pile."
And there you have it, a delicious Buttermilk Sandwich.

Our weekend..
We had so much fun this weekend. Scott got out of school early and took Ellie out and we left for Medford. We did some much needed shopping and played outside in Grandma and Grandpa Olsens backyard. We had the Coffmans come over and stay the night with us. The kids all got along and we had yummy food. The next morning we all headed to the Science Works museum, after a stop at the cheese factory of course for some squeaky cheese!!
We love the museum, and we love the Coffmans! Thanks for a super fun weekend!
Lithia Park with Coffmans
In Ashland we also went to Lithia Park! One of my favorite places in Oregon!! It was a little chilly but still nice. Cornelia showed me the most amazing kids consignment shop next to Rare Earth. It has the cutest stuff, new and used! I cannot, for the life of me remember the name though. My kids had so much fun in the park, especially Connor because whenever he is with Isa, he is a happy little man!
