iPad's, cousins and wild animals

We just got back from a trip to Central Point at Grandma and Grandpa's and lots of Olsen cousins were there. My kids went through at least 2 outfits a day because they played so hard outside the whole trip.

In our down time we loved to play on Uncle Chris's iPad.
I am addicted I tell you. I think I played air hockey on that thing for an hour!
One of the day's all the mommy's and Grandma had a girls day in Ashland shopping and eating yummy food. We also went to Wildlife Safari- Finally. We have wanted to take our kids for a long time. It was so fun and for our kids, totally worth it!!
We saw so many African (and other) animals and things you don't normally see and the kids were so excited to be in the car but not in seat belts.
(don't worry it is like 5 miles an hour inside)
I loved the huge bears and the kids in our car got to get nose to nose with a curious Emu. They loved it.
Lastly, all the cousins got to camp out in the back yard with Grandpa Bud.
We had so much fun with our family, we LOVE our cousins.

chunky monkey

This wee boy is not so wee anymore! He is now (at 2 months and 2 days) a little over 15lbs.
He has rolly polly legs and a frog belly. And I can't stop kissing his cheeks.
Ellie asked me yesterday if I thought we kissed Sawyer 100 times every day.
We do.

Yep, I'm THAT old!
Scott threw me a fun party with yummy food and lots of chocolate! He even set up different games for "Minute to Win it" It got pretty competitive, but of course the girls won!
I only have a few pictures and they are on my Dad's camera, I'll post them when I get them.
A big thanks for everyone who made my day so special!
xoxo

Smiley

Sawyer has been so smiley.
He smiled a lot, even at a few weeks old. I LOVE it.
His whole face lights up.

I am determined to get a better picture.

the hubbs

My sweet husband surprised me with a fun date night which included a much dreaded (for him) trip to the movies to see Eclipse. Let me tell ya, this was really a generous effort on his part. So I am settling in to my seat next to Scott and I have my -7 week old baby mind you- in my lap and he makes a few tiny baby cooing noises. I hear the 17 year old girl behind me whisper to her boyfriend "Someone seriously brought a freakin' baby in here." I was shocked, she was DIRECTLY behind me. So I whipped my whole body around and gave her the stink eye. I tried to forget it, she's a snotty teen...on with the movie. Then Sawyer starts to wiggle and grunt and I know I am not going to be able to focus on anything but how noisy he is and not wanting him to cry. The grunting is getting louder and it seems as though I can't get my shirt up fast enough to nurse him because I am all panicky in my hurry and so he let's out one little 3 second cry. The boy in other teen couple siting behind us yells, "Are you *#%#ing kidding me.."
I was so mad!! Big burly Scott then turns around and says something, I don't even know what- I was so distracted. As soon as they saw who he was and that he had them in class they shut right up.
But by that point I was done and took Sawyer down to that little dark hallway just in case he needed to be taken out. So much for a quiet date night next to my hubby. Instead I stood in the hallway for 2 hours bouncing a baby and poor Scott had to watch Sparkly Vampires making out all by himself. Super fun. Love you hun!

Hair (long story)

I don't know if some of you have noticed, but our little handsome Connor has recently been sporting NO eyebrows.
Please observe:
Actually, it all started with this picture:
I noticed that he had a little bald spot on his hairline, about the middle of his forehead. I looked at his head and thought, weird maybe he had gotten a hold of some scissors and took a chunk out?
As time went on, I noticed that his eyebrows were looking sparse. Also weird, I never saw him even touch his eyebrows. I asked him what happened, to which he said he didn't know, and I kept a close eye on him. I even would watch him fall asleep to see if it was happening at night. Then when my family and friends started to notice his eyebrows I looked it up online and WOW was is the wrong thing for an over worrisome mother to look up.
Turns out if he was pulling out his hair himself there was a whole slew of psychological things that could be behind it. Like, a trama, stress, or abuse (that one scared the crap out of me) So, I immediately start to rack my brain of past incidents, or people he is in contact with when I am not there.
But all the things that they were describing about behavior and stress just did not fit Connor. He just wasn't that kid. It was about around this time that I realized that if he was pulling it out, it had been long enough that other hairs should be growing back in too and should be a little prickly. But when I felt them they were as smooth as could be, almost like they were Nair'ed off. Then the other day Scott took him to get a hair cut and the pretty much buzzed it. It was then that we saw about 3 other spots on the back of his head and we took him in to the doctor right away.
His doctor showed me pictures like this:
It looked EXACTLY like Connors!! She said he has what is called Alopecia. Random hair loss that is usually in round spots around the hairline or on scalp (I was told that one of the famous Princesses also had this) And we were lucky because it has another form that can take ALL the hair off of the whole body.
So, in the end.. Connor should hopefully have his eyebrows back within 12 months and be totally fine, except that it can eventually come back. But I am just ecstatic that we figured it out and he doesn't need any therapy!!

Our 4th of July

Second to Christmas, the 4th of July is my favorite holiday and this year we were lucky and got to spend our 4th of July weekend while we were still up at the coast. People up there were lighting fireworks all weekend on the lake, my kids loved it!
Since the 4th was on a Sunday this year we relaxed and had a lazy day. Scott and Connor went to church and actually ran into the Nortons who we grew up with in Klamath, and who are now living there.
Then we headed out for a hike up to see this beautiful lighthouse (I thought of you Nana)
We played at the beach, and then came back to the house for naps and to read.
That night we were going to watch the free fireworks in town but realized that our neighbors had a fantastic fireworks show going on that we could watch in our jammies from the privacy of our own dock. It was as good, if not better than the downtown Klamath fireworks show....and possibly very illegal. ;)

Florence

We went to the coast last week and had so much fun. We stayed here:
in beautiful Florence.
Scott went up to the house a few days earlier with the older 2 kids and my mom and I came up later with the little ones. Although, before my mom and I even reached Florence we got a call from Scott who was on his way to the ER with Ellie who had just broken her arm. NO FUN.
But after all of that drama, we got to the fun stuff.
It is so green there and they have such a fun downtown. My favorite day was the day we went to the HUGE farmers market right on the Pier and saw all the vendors and yummy food.
(This is obviously not the pier, it's the view from one of our decks on the lake)
.
Oh, and if you get the chance you have to eat at Moe's. It has the best clam chowder and fish n' chips!!
The beach was actually really warm but windy. Perfect for flying kites.
This town also has some awesome sand dunes that reminded me of the ones Scott and I use to go to in Rexburg.
This trip was not a shinning moment for my kids (probably due a lot to the broken arm). They had their fair share of meltdowns and arguments that.. I am just sure almost gave Grandma a stroke, but all in all we had a lot of family fun together. Thanks for hanging in there mom.

five

Connor turned 5 on June 29th.
He rounds out the last of the June birthdays around here. We celebrated at Grandma and Grandpa Mortenson's house with Auntie Lauren, Uncle Straton, GiGi and baby Oaklen. We had a yummy ice cream cake that Daddy made and we sang to him as he blushed and made his embarrassed "kissy face".
Connor has the best laugh. He loves to look for shooting stars and help mommy out by setting the table or sweeping the floor.
Connor is very brave. He loves to swim and NEVER stays still. He still wants to be a grandpa when he grows up and is enamored with the Missionaries.
Connor fills our home with excitement and holds a special place in my heart.
We love you C man.
